In their current nine-game unbeaten streak, both Evan Bourassa and Brian Wigant have been getting the job done in net.
“Both of our goalies in the last couple of weeks have had success and played well,” said Lewiston Head Coach Jamie Belleau.
“Wigant hadn’t played in a couple of games because Bourassa have been doing a good job. Wigant played well in Bangor and shut them out. I thought it was a good opportunity for him to get back in there and see if he can do it again. Again, he was one mistake from a shutout and he made some big saves.”
Wigant made 23 saves in the 5-1 victory over Bangor Wednesday.
“It keeps you on your feet, because you have to be really good in practice so you can get another game,” said Brian Wigant on sharing the net with Bourassa. “You are just hoping Belleau put you in so you can go out there and shine.”
Bangor assistant coach Matt Stairs to be an analyst for NESN

Matt brings incredible passion for the game of baseball and a great sense of humor,” said Sean McGrail, NESN’s President and CEO in the network’s press release. “He adds a unique perspective since he has played with or against most of the current major league players, including one year with Adrian Gonzalez in San Diego.”
Stairs has made his off-season home in Bangor and has also helped out John Bapst hockey team in years past.
