Myriam Croussette, Dawn Sullivan and Jennifer More each score two goals as the University of Maine women’s ice hockey team routed Scared Heart, 8-1, at Alfond Arena on Saturday afternoon.
With the win Maine improved to 2-0 on the season.
Croussette, who scored a goal and two assists in Friday night’s contest, opened the scoring midway into the first period when she beat Sacred Heart goalie Alexis Molotky to give Maine a 1-0 lead.

After Maine outshot the Pioneers, 19-3, in the first period they’d poured it on in the second, blasting 30 shots on net en route to outshooting Scared Heart by a 72-10 margin in the game.
Croussette scored a power play goal for her second of the game at 6:42 of the period, giving Maine a 5-0 lead.
Jennifer More, scoring her second goal of the contest, along with Dominique Goutsis and Dawn Sullivan completed the scoring for the Black Bears.
Jamie Mey scored the lone goal of the game for Sacred Heart with one second left in the middle stanza, breaking the shutout streak by Maine goaltending.
Kylie Smith got the start in goal for Maine, stopping six shots to pick up her first win of the season. Brittany Ott came in relief, for the second time this weekend, in the third period, making three saves to preserve the win.
Molotky stopped 64 of 72 shots face for the Pioneers.
The Black Bears have next weekend off, but will return to the ice on Oct. 7 when they face Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.
