Marc-Andre Gragnani, Etienne Brodeur and Gustav Nyquist have been named Maine Hockey Journal’s Three Stars of the Week for the week ending Oct. 31.
After missing the first two weeks of the season because of a knee injury, Gragnani has appeared in seven games, scoring five points, which includes his first three goals of the season this past weekend.
On Friday, Gragnani tallied two goals to help Portland defeat the Norfolk Admirals, 6-5 in a shootout.
Gragnani scored the overtime winner on Saturday as the Pirates came from behind in a thrilling 7-6 victory in Norfolk, VA.
Brodeur scored two goals, one assist with a plus-3 rating in games against Rimouski and Drummondville.
The Varennes, QC native scored his league leading 14th goal of the season in 4-2 win on Wednesday night against the Rimouski Oceanic.
Brodeur followed that with a two-point night (1G 1A) on Friday as the Maineiacs defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs, 5-4. It was the first time since 2007-’08; the Maineiacs have defeated Drummondville in game action.
In 20 games this season, Brodeur has 15 goals, six assists for 21 points with a plus-6 rating, and is this week’s No. 2 star
Nyquist calculated in every goal by the Black Bears has they keep their winning ways and they improved to 4-1-2 on the season.
The Malmo, SWE native is second in team scoring with two goals, 10 assists for 12 points.
