Maine looks to maintain their momentum heading into conference play

By  Published: 30th October 2010

The Vermont Catamounts will play host to the No. 7 team in the nation, the University of Maine men’s ice hockey team on Saturday night in Burlington, VT. While Maine, last week’s Hockey East Team of the Week, tries to find another win in conference schedule, the Catamounts (0-0-1, 0-1-2 overall) will be looking for their first win of the season.

The Black Bears will attempt to put as many shots on the net as they can in order to break down a rather stingy defense from Vermont. Finding the back of the net early is important for Maine, who is 3-0-1 while leading after the second period.

Gustav Nyquist and Spencer Abbott have each earned a point in all six games this season. With help from Maine’s key players, the Black Bears will have an easier time finding a big win against the defensively driven Vermont Catamounts.

The month of October has been kind to the Black Bears for the past six years with a record of 29-16-2.

As Halloween looms and the month comes to an end, the Black Bears will try to add one more win to the month.
