In less than a week, Pirates rookie forward Luke Adam is heading back to the Buffalo Sabres.
The Sabres announced this morning that Adam was recalled from Portland to replace an injured Nathan Gerbe, who suffered a fractured jaw after taking a puck to the face from teammate Tyler Myers in last night’s 4-3 OT loss in Atlanta.
Adam will join the team in Dallas after playing last night in Norfolk, VA where he tallied a goal and two assists in Portland’s 6-5 win.
The 20-year old native of St. John’s, NL has been on a tear in the AHL, scoring six goals, seven assists in nine games this season. He’s currently ranked third in AHL scoring and is first among all rookies in the AHL.
