David Leggio, Brian Flynn and Colt Steele have been named Maine Hockey Journal’s Three Stars of the Week for the week ending Oct. 24th.
Leggio, in his first year with the Pirates, backstopped the Pirates to a 3-2 SO win on Tuesday night stopping 35 of 37 shots including eight of nine in the shootout. On Saturday, Leggio was even more outstanding, stopping 36 of 37 to give the Pirates a 2-1 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
The Williamsville native is currently fifth in the AHL in GAA and save percentage.
Flynn scored two goals for the Black Bears including the game winner on Friday night at Maine went on for a 7-3 victory over North Dakota. He added another goal on Saturday as Maine swept the weekend with a 4-2 win. For his efforts this weekend, he was named Hockey East Player of the Week. It’s the third time in his career that Flynn has been named Hockey East Player of the Week. Flynn has four goals, one assist for five points on the season.
The Lynnfield Mass. native is this week’s No.2 star.
The No.3 star of the week goes to Colt Steele of the Portland Jr. Pirates.
Steele scored a goal and two assists as the Jr. Pirates continued their torrid pace in the MJHL standings with a 5-2 win over the Cranston Reds.
Steele, 17, assisted on the game winning goal as part of his two assists and added a goal of his own as the Lewiston, ME native now has four goals, nine assists in 11 games and extended his points scoring streak to four games.
The Jr. Pirates are currently 8-3-0 and sit in second place of the Francis Division, only two points behind the Walpole Express.
