Pirates win sixth straight game in Lowell

Tyler Ennis and Marc-Andre Gragnani scored in the shootout while J.P. Lamoureux turned aside all four attempts he faced as the Portland Pirates extended their winning streak to six games with a 4-3 win over the Lowell Devils in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 5,304 at the Tsongas Arena.

Kyle Rank, Mark Mancari and Kyle Wanvig scored in regulation for the Pirates, who moved to 27-16-5-2 with the win. The Pirates have now won their last five games that required a shoot out and extended their current road point streak to five games (4-0-1-0).

Nick Palmieri paced the Devils with two goals. Nathan Perkovitch scored the other as Lowell dropped to 29-18-4-2.

Palmieri scored the lone goal of the opening period to give the home side a 1-0 advantage. The Pirates responded with two quick goals to start the second to grab a 2-1 lead after two. Rank started the mini uprising three minutes into the period to tie the game at one. Eighty seconds later Mancari gave Portland the lead with an unassisted tally. Wanvig scored early in the third to give the Pirates a 3-1 lead only to see Perkovitch and Palmieri, with his second of the game, scored in a span of three-and-a-half minutes midway through the third to force extra time.

The Pirates out shot the Devils 29-28 in the game.

The Allied Home Mortgage Three stars of the game were all from the Devils. Palmieri was the first, defenseman Matt Corrente (two assists) the second and forward Tim Sestito (two assists) the third.
