The Lewiston Maineiacs didn’t wast anytime.
On the first day of the QMJHL trading period, Lewiston swung a deal with the Chicoutimi Saguneens which saw the Maineiacs add the services of Michael Hlinka and Marc-Andre Carre.
In return, the Maineiacs send Alexis Piette and prospect Julien Houle to Chicoutimi.
Hlinka, 18, has seven goals and eight assists in 29 games this season. In 41 games last season, he had 12 goals and 22 assists.
Hlinka won’t be joining the team until January as he’s representing the Czech Republic at the World Junior Championships.
Carre has spent the season with the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League where he has 16 goals and 14 assists in 29 games.
Alexis Piette who was acquired over the summer which sent Garret Clarke to the Halifax Mooseheads. In 35 games this season, the 19-year old has 9 goals and 13 assists.
Houle, 17, was a 2009 draft selection of the Maineiacs. With Vaudreuil-Dorion of the Quebec AAA Junior Hockey League this season, he has 17 goals and 21 assists in 33 games.
