The Portland Pirates have brought back a former player as Matt Caruana was signed today to a professional tryout.
Caruana, 24, played for the Pirates during the 2007-08 season where he appeared in 18 games (13 playoff appearances), scoring one assist.
He played four seasons for Niagara University where he scored 51 goals, 78 assists for 129 points in 146 games with the Purple Eagles.
Caruana has spent this season with the Gwinnett Gladiators, playing in 11 contest, scoring eight points (six goals, two assists) before he recall to Portland.
