Homecoming is spoiled

Lewiston, ME- After going 2-0 in Don MacAdam’s first two games behind the Lewiston Maineiacs’ bench on road games; the homecoming had a sour taste to it. The Drummondville Voltiguers defeated the Maineiacs 4-1 in front of 1,657 fans at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

The Voltiguers got goals from Samson Mahbod, Yannick Riendeau, Philippe Lefebvre, and Christopher DiDomenico. Antoine Tardif made 22 saves in the team’s 35 victory.

Marc Bourgeois got his eleventh of season for the Maineiacs’ lone goal. Peter Delmas got the start for the home team and made 35 saves in the loss.

The Drummond Voltigeuers struck first when Samson Mahbod notched his 23 of the season. Patrik Prokop would get the lone assist on the goal.

Yannick Riendeau would get his league leading 34th goal of the season which broke the tie with his teammate Dany Masse with 6:01 remaining. Dmitry Kulikov and Mike Hoffman would pick up the assists.

The lone tally of the second period came with 4:10 remaining. Dominic Savoie would feed a pass to Marc Bourgeois who slipped it past Antoine Tardif. Nick Huard got the secondary helper.

3:02 into the third, Philippe Lefebvre deflected a Marc-Antoine Desnoyers shot from the point. Maxime Frenette also picked up an assist.

The Maineiacs would go on the powerplay when Mike Hoffman took a retaliatory penalty when he went after Maineiacs’ captain Danick Paquette. Lewiston wasn’t able to light the lamp.

The Voltigeurs would put the contest out of reach with 2:02 remaining when Christopher DiDomenico got his 13th of the season. It found the top shelf. Olivier Hotte got the only assist on the goal.
