Tonight’s Pirates game postponed; Tarkir joins Portland

By  Published: 19th December 2008

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The American Hockey League announced today that tonight’s game between the Portland Pirates and the Worcester Sharks (AHL #419), scheduled to be played at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., has been postponed due to the threat of inclement winter weather this evening.

The game has been rescheduled for Monday, December 29, at 7:05 p.m. ET.

Pirates head coach Kevin Dineen has signed defenseman Zach Tarkir from South Carolina to a PTO because of injuries and call ups to the Sabres within the last day. Tarkir, 24, has played in 22 games with the South Carolina Stingrays, scoring 10 points (2g, 8a) with 27 penalty minutes. He also has a plus-12 rating, which is good enough for third in the ECHL.

The Pirates will still play one player short this weekend, going with 17 skaters as Aaron Slattengren is still suffering from an upper body injury and also look for Jhonas Enroth to get both starts at home against the Bruins and Sharks as Adam Dennis is still not 100%, however Dennis will be on the bench as the backup.
