Sabres have an eye on the future

By  Published: 11th June 2008

With the 2008 NHL Entry Draft scheduled to take place a little over a week from now at ScotiaBank Place in Ottawa, Ontario, the Sabres can now focus on stocking their farm team for years to come now that that the affiliation stuff is out of the way for the foreseeable future.

The Sabres will have seven selections, including two in the first round, in the upcoming draft. Buffalo is slated to select at #13, which is their pick and again at #26 as a result of trading Brian Campbell to San Jose at the trade deadline last season.

The last time a parent club for Portland had two selections in the first round, it resulted in Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf, so here’s hoping to a bright future.

Here’s an overall look at the Sabres picks:

1.) 13.
1.) 26. (from SJ)*
2.) 44.
3.) 74.
4.) 104.
5.) 134.
6.) 164.
