The speculation will soon be over.

Schlegel Sports, owners of the Iowa AHL franchise (formerly known as the Iowa Stars) have scheduled a press conference for next Tuesday, June 3 at 2:00pm to announce their affiliation for the 2008-09 season and beyond.

It’s expected the Anaheim Ducks will move their affiliation from Portland, ending their three-year relationship with the Pirates.

For some time, Ducks GM Brian Burke has indicated that he would like to have his affiliation closer to California.

Burke along with AHL President Dave Andrews is expected to join Majority Owners Robert and Kirby Schlegel and Franchise President John Olver in making the announcement.

It’s anticipated the Buffalo Sabres and Pirates will make an announcement shortly after that they join forces for the 08′-09′ season.
