With all of the action going on Thursday with Aaron Rome and Clay Wilson being dealt to Columbus for Geoff Platt, it was overlooked that Jonas Hiller was recalled to the Anaheim Ducks.
In six games, he was 3-2-1 with a 2.11 GAA and a .929 save percentage.
“I think we will see the last of him in Portland I think the Jonas Hiller bio will be similar to what we saw with Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf,” said Pirates coach Kevin Dineen in a recent video interview.
It’s believe that Anaheim is close to completing a trade with Toronto.
UPDATE: According to Doug Stolhand, Ilya Bryzgalov could be headed for the waiver wire. Could this be a bigger part of the trade puzzle? No way Burke allows Bryzgalov to get away for nothing. It’s only a few years ago when Burke used the waiver wire to acquire Todd Marchant as part of the Sergei Fedorov and Francios Beauchemin trade.
UPDATE #2: Bryzgalov has been placed on waivers and we will know by noon New York Time if he cleared or who claimed him. If he clears, he will be assigned to Portland, but as for him reporting will remain to be seen. Toronto and Anaheim are still talking and a deal could still be done soon. I’m hearing that it could involve Ryan Getzlaf and a defenseman going to Toronto for TBA. (I don’t know yet). Bobby Ryan could be recalled after tonight or this weekend and he would take Getzlaf’s spot.
Hey Johnny, if you’re talking about Bryzgalov – they let him go for nothing because they couldn’t find a trading partner, Burke was said to be asking for simply a conditional pick, but still no takers.
As for the Ducks trading Getzlaf, I don’t see it.
The Ducks and Toronto are probably talking. There is not a chance Burke would deal Getzlaf unless Getzlaf is asking for a much bigger contract than burke will give him. That is the only possibilty that Gezlaf would ever be in a trade rumor. That or the rumor is just false.
I don’t understand why they let him leave for nothing.
Kubina is out for potentially months… why would Anaheim take him?
Getzlaf would be a great pickup for Toronto at the expense of Sundin… that would be a step in the right direction in terms of starting the rebuild and getting some good, young players in there. Steen is a risky trade… done nothing thus far, but who knows if he’s going to prove to be another one of the young guys that toronto lets get away and turns out to be a solid player. Schneider is not a player that I think we want in the long run… I’d much rather a couple picks… it’s about time they tear this leafs team apart and try to do something useful rather than fight to be mediocre year after year. I highly doubt this trade will go down though.
The Ducks offense has finally gotten going,
Getzlaf is the future of the Ducks, and could hit 90 points as early as this season.
No return from Toronto could improve the Ducks now or in the long run.
absolutly not going to happen, getzlaf leads anaheim Offense, Sundin on his mile ends, i dont see why anaheim clears money for selanne, and/or neids, both players near to retirement, anaheim will not be very good in 2 years if this deal happens, but TO, will be strong as fuck, getzlaf is a superstar in the becoming, Burke needs to be fired if he trades getzlaf.
personally i think the trade would look something like this. I think it would be fair to say that that both these teams get what they need.
To Anaheim:
Sundin-played some amazing hockey. anaheim really needs his skill an leadership upfront with teemu probably on the verge of retirement
Steen-a nice throw in. although he hasn’t lived up to his potential yet, alot of GM’s have seemed to have an interest.
Kubina-not sure why anaheim would want him, but i have heard that burke has always had an interest in Kubina and he tried to get him during free agency when toronto did
To Toronto:
Ryan Getzlaf-an amazing player, anaheim would be stupid to give him up, but they are in the shitter lately and burke knows he needs to start winning, and right now sundin can provide that more then ryan.
Matthew Schnieder
Sundin for Getz and a stay home d-man would be enough for me.
Wow, Burke and Ferguson talked…the Leafs don’t have anything of the value of Getzlaf to offer let alone him with a d-man.
Burke was seen talking to John Ferguso after the Leafs game against Boston last week, so this is not as “made up by the Toronto media” as you may think.
You are either very brave or very foolish, Chris Roy.
Getzlaf is not going anywhere.
Why is it the media surrounding the NHL and more specifically Toronto, always come up with these assinine reports. Getzlaf to Toronto is absolutley rediculous. Im not sayin he is above trading however I do feel that it is very, very unlikely and what does Toronto have to offer that Anaheim needs… Not a damn thing. This is stupid and this reporter should be fired.
I trust Burke will do the right move. I think he has to make some cap room for Scott and/or Teemu to return!
No way the Ducks trade Getzlaf are you crazy
