It appears that Dustin Penner’s days in sunny Southern California are over as the Anaheim Ducks have opted to not match four-year 21.25 million dollar offer.

Edmonton Oiler’s GM Kevin Lowe signed Penner to a group II offer sheet back on July 26th after the Ducks and Penner couldn’t come to terms on a long-term deal of their own.

Penner, 6-4, 245-pounds, scored 29 goals, 14 assists for 45 points, playing on a second line with two other Duck phenoms in Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf, who have only one year left on their own contract.

With the deadline passing, the Ducks will receive a first, second and third round draft pick in next year’s draft. It’s a draft that is considered one of the deepest draft in about 20 years.
